Shop people miss most from high street and wish would come back this Christmas

Walk down your local high street today and you may see a number of empty store fronts that once belonged to the likes of Littlewoods and Tammy.

In the last 10 years a number of our favourite shops have been lost, but which closure do people feel the most strongly about?

According to a recent poll, Woolworths is the store that the nation misses the most and would like to have back on the high street.

Known by many as Woolies, the company went into administration in 2009 and sold a variety of items, including pick 'n' mix sweets, toys and CDs.

According to the research, which was conducted by online marketplace OnBuy six in 10 adults voted it as the biggest loss.

This was followed by Toys R Us which was second on the list, with one in five people voting for it.

Other greatly missed stores included Jane Norman, department store BHS, C&A, Borders, MFI, Tie Rack and video rental store Blockbuster.

However, one store that people weren't too bothered about closing was electrical giant, Comet.

It didn't receive a single vote from the 2,424 Brits who took part in the survey.

A spokesperson for OnBuy said: "The survey comprised shops that have faced administrators and subsequent closures.

"It required respondents to select the shop they wish they could bring back in time for Christmas."
