Everyone is facing the challenges of an economic downturn that emerged from the Covid-19 pandemic. The impact, however, did not spread equally. The national lockdown that introduced work from home translated to an overwhelming increase in the domestic work burden.
In celebration of female entrepreneurs and their allies, Dragonfly360 and OpenHouse at Central Embassy together with Bangkok Bank hosted the Dragonfly Holiday Bazaar late last month at OpenHouse, Central Embassy.
Founder of Dragonfly360 Pranapda Phornprapa Chirathivat said SMEs have been regarded as one of the most significant drivers of the Thai economy and contribute to around half of the country's GDP. Under its pillar "Be Financially Independent", Dragonfly360 wishes to recognise and support female entrepreneurs and foundations that have struggled during the Covid-19 pandemic. "It is critical to come together not only to support but to talk about the importance of financial independence. Economic empowerment is key in helping women break down the barriers that hold us back," said Pranapda.
Dragonfly Holiday Bazaar featured lifestyle, fashion, wellness, beauty and healthy treats to ignite visitors' holiday spirit. The marketplace included NGOs that stand for supporting and training marginalised women; Sati Foundation, Baan Dek Foundation, Home of Grace, and SHE Massage, to help deepen collective commitment towards gender equality.
The event also featured WTF(eminism) "Celeb Talk" by young females famed for their successful online businesses including Natcharee Kijviriyatanachote of SOS, Nitcharee Kijviriyatanachote of Muse, and Pimpisa Chirathivat of Girls Nation.
