The team behind north London restaurant Top Cuvée are to open a new physical location for its lockdown store Shop Cuvée next month, following runaway success during lockdown.
Shop Cuvée will open in September on Highbury’s Blackstock Road, just around the corner from the original restaurant and wine bar.
The concept was first launched back in March by the restaurant’s co-founders Brodie Meah and Max Venning, intended as a way of continuing a source of income after Top Cuvée was forced to shut its doors.
The bottle shop has specialised in selling carefully curated natural wines, store cupboard essentials and bottled cocktails from top London bars, including Scout, Tayer + Elementary and Erik Lorincz's Kwant, as well as Venning's bars Three Sheets and Little Mercies.
The service soon became so popular that Shop Cuvée expanded from offering in-store takeaway, online orders and sustainable local delivery by bicycle, to nationwide postal delivery.
Having been based at the now-reopened Top Cuvée, Meah and Venning have now opted to run the concept full time at a new location 100 yards away.
‘‘If you told me in March that not only would Top Cuvée come back better than ever, that we would have provided thousands of natural wines to London, launched a nationwide delivery service and that we will open a permanent shop on our beloved Blackstock Road – I’d have thought you were having me on,” says Meah.
"We cannot begin to thank our customers enough – we couldn’t have done it without you! As well as our locals, the shop will ensure we keep on reaching our customers around the rest of the UK. The support and demand has been just incredible.’’
