This song-slide, entitled Summertime, was produced by the Scott & Van Altena company of New York around 1910. They were projected by vaudeville theatres during musical numbers as a marketing gimmick to help sell the sheet music of the songs in the production. The practice of creating photomontages has been around since the birth of photography and continues to be controversial to this day
