Detectives investigating the shooting of a woman in Cheetham Hill are linking it to a stabbing in Salford a day earlier, the M.E.N understands.
A large police cordon was erected on Olanyian Drive on Tuesday evening (March 9) after a woman in her early 30s was shot.
Officers were called at around 6pm to reports that a woman had arrived at hospital with a gunshot wound to her leg.
She remains in hospital with injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening.
GMP said they are following a number of lines of enquiry as an investigation was launched by detectives.

The M.E.N can now reveal the shooting is being linked to the stabbing of a teenage boy in Broughton on Monday (March 8).
A 15-year-old boy was stabbed on Albert Park Road after police were alerted to a number of youths seen fighting with blades, local sources have confirmed.

They found the injured youth on arrival and he was taken to hospital.
His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

It is not clear how the two incidents are linked but Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for more information.
A large part of Olanyian Drive and Everest Drive in Cheetham Hill were taped off by police on Wednesday (March 10) morning.
Detectives could be seen carrying out door to door enquiries and forensic investigators were spotted combing the scene for evidence.
In a previous statement, GMP said: "Detectives currently have a cordon in place on Olanyian Drive and part of Everside Drive in Cheetham Hill following a shooting at around 6pm on Tuesday 9 March 2021.

"Officers received a call to a report of a woman in her early 30's who arrived at hospital with a gunshot wound to her leg at around 6.30pm.
"She remains in hospital. Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening at this time.
"An investigation is on-going and detectives are carrying out a number of lines of enquiry."
