'Shooting' in Blantyre leaves one man dead after 'targeted' attack

A man has died after being 'shot' in an early evening 'targeted' attack.

Emergency services raced to the scene in Caithness Street, Blantyre at 5pm on Monday evening after reports of a disturbance outside a house involving an alleged firearm.

A 26-year-old man was injured during the incident and was rushed to University Hospital Wishaw, where he died a short time later.

Police are treating the death as 'suspicious' and believe it to be a 'targeted attack'.

A post mortem will take place to establish the exact cause of his death and enquiries are continuing.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman confirmed: "Officers are in the area to provide public reassurance.
