The Shooters, Fishers and Farmers will run for Lake Macquarie Council for the first time, while four candidates are set to vie for mayor at the December 4 election.
Incumbent Labor mayor Kay Fraser will campaign for a second term as mayor and fifth on council.
She'll be up against two council incumbents - Jason Pauling of the Liberals and Lake Mac Independents' Luke Cubis, who will also both run in West Ward.
Independent candidate Rosmairi Dawson, who ran successfully as a councillor in 2012 under Greg Piper's former Independent Alliance before losing her seat in 2016, rounds out the mayoral nominations. She will also run ungrouped in West Ward.
Nominations for the council election closed on Wednesday with the ballot order to be drawn on Thursday.
The current parties on council - Labor, Liberal and the Lake Mac Independents - will all run four candidates in the three wards.
The Greens have not nominated for mayor but will field a full contingent of 12 candidates after missing the cutoff for nominations by five minutes at the last election in 2016.
Jane McNamara, who would have been the party's 2016 mayoral candidate, will lead the Greens group in North Ward. The intended 2016 East Ward leader Wylie Campbell will also run, while Coal-ash Community Alliance research coordinator Ingrid Schraner will top the Greens ticket in West Ward.
The Shooters will run four candidates in North Ward led by 2019 Maitland state election candidate Nadrra Sarkis.
West Ward is firming up as a seat of interest with the retirement of long-term Independent councillor Wendy Harrison, who topped the polls at the last election.
Incumbents Cr Pauling, Cr Cubis and Labor's David Belcher will aim to retain their seats in the ward, however if Labor claims the fourth and keeps their other positions on council, it would give them an outright majority.
An Independent group of candidates who list "equality and fairness" as their goals will run in East Ward, led by teacher and engineer Basil Paynter.
An ungrouped Independent will also run in each ward - Rosmairi Dawson in West, 18-year-old former School Strike for Climate organiser Bryce Ham in North and Sustainable Australia party member Allan Ellis in East.
