Shon Weissman to Celtic transfer latest as 'British clubs' enquire about striker

Wolfsberger boss Ferdinand Feldhofer has revealed "British clubs" have enquired about Shon Weissman.

The Celtic target, who is a reported contingency plan if Odsonne Edouard leaves Parkhead this summer, has been linked with a £4million move to the Hoops.

Weissman, who has scored 30 goals in 32 games for the Austrian side, is a man in demand with a host of clubs tracking the talisman.

And his boss Feldhofer has confirmed the interest is coming from several British sides as he concedes his prized asset will more than likely be on the move during the transfer window.

He told the Daily Record: "He is still under contract. But I don't expect him to stay. In fact, I would be extremely surprised if he did.

"What makes him special is that he has scored all these goals for Wolfsberger. It's far more difficult to score the number of goals he has than if he played for Salzburg. It's more difficult.

"He will score goals anywhere. I would have no concerns for him no matter which country he ends up going to.

"There have already been plenty of interest from British clubs and we have to be realistic, although obviously, I would be delighted as a manager if he is still here next season."

Weissman's agent insisted he was only interested in a move to the Premier League or the Bundesliga, but the player himself says he is not entertaining any speculation until the current season is over.

He said: "I want to concentrate only on the end of the season at the club.

"We have only a few games to go and I've told my agent I don't want to hear anything about the speculation. I don't care."
