"This is my old bedroom and I did this to remember it. I had a dog, but dad hit it and its eye got really red." Photograph: PR

"This is the room I share with my two cousins and my two dogs. One's a Staff and the other is a Bulldog. The dogs protect you from danger. I've put curtains to keep you away from bugs and insects." Photograph: PR

"This is my bedroom and this is my auntie on the bottom bunk. She's not my real auntie, she's my cousin, but I call her my auntie because she is older than me. This is my cousin on the top bunk. "I sleep on the floor. I am watching my baby brother so he doesn't fall out of bed. I cook his food. My mum is not lazy she is just teaching me. I like sleeping on the floor anyway. I made the rice for us, and if my mum goes out I change my brother's nappy." Photograph: PR

"My room has a nice bed with fluffy pillows on it and the cupboard is nice and woody. I have nice posters in my room and a big TV. Sometimes it is annoying that the rats poo inside my house – I like the floor because it is nice with the carpet on. I like the colour of the walls and the way the light is. "I like my woollen carpet and I like my computer, but the mouse makes eggs inside the house. Sometimes I feed the rats, although they keep coming and coming. Sometimes I find them and give them a comfortable place. I have marbles around the whole house. Near my TV I have some wonderful stuff, but there's poo so I just clean it as quick as I can. Sometimes they run away from my brother because he is tall. I am not afraid of the rats." Photograph: PR
