Shoe of missing Scots dad Shaun Banner 'washes up' on beach a month after he vanished

A shoe believed to belong to a Scots dad who has been missing for almost a month has washed up on the beach.

Shaun Banner, aged 34, was last seen at around midnight on Saturday, April 23 on CCTV near Invergordon railway station.

An extensive search has been ongoing since, with devastated family members and members of the local community tirelessly trying to track him down.

His brother, Alan Banner, has now said on social media that one of the shoes he was wearing has washed up on Nigg Beach.

He wrote: "We have been focusing our searches mainly on the shorelines and beaches as we have a strong suspicion Shaun is in the water.

"One of the shoes Shaun was wearing washed ashore Nigg Beach.

"This doesn’t mean he is definitely in the water but is the reason we have focused our searches on the shorelines and beaches."

The dad-of-one has been described as being 5ft 7ins in height, of a slim build, with short brown hair, and blue eyes.

He had been wearing a blue ‘RSE’ work top, a grey ‘Rogue Attitude’ puffer style jacket and green and brown ‘Crofter’ work trousers.

Shaun was also wearing grey, purple and blue Nike Air max trainers at the time of his disappearance, Police Scotland confirmed.

Inspector Chris Murray, of Alness Police Station, said: “I’d like to thank the local community for their engagement with us throughout our efforts to trace Shaun.

"Along with his family, we remain very concerned for his welfare as time passes.

“I continue to urge anyone who may have information on his whereabouts or any possible sightings to please come forward, as it could prove vital.

“Please call police on 101, quoting incident 2300 of 23 April.”
