Shocking video shows stolen car driven at speed down busy blocked-off Wind Street in Swansea

Shocking video footage has emerged showing police trying to stop a stolen car which was being driven at speed down a blocked off Wind Street in Swansea.

The incident happened during the early hours of Sunday, June 16.

In the short video clip the car can be seen being driving at speed down the street, which is full of bars and clubs, before doing a handbrake turn and speeding off while police try and chase it on foot.

The car narrowly avoids striking the police officers and a man can be seen having to step sharply out of its path, with others run to safety.

In a statement South Wales Police said: "Officers on duty in Wind Street attempted to stop a stolen vehicle which was driven at speed along Wind Street at about 1.30am on June 16.

"Despite their best efforts the vehicle made off and enquiries are continuing to locate the driver."

Police are appealing for anyone who has footage of this incident or information to contact 101 quoting occurrence 1900216373.

Wind Street is the favoured destination for thousands of people each week looking for a night out.

It is so busy that on weekend evenings it is closed to through traffic, allowing people to wander along it, normally without fear of having to deal with any vehicles.
