As the world witnessed some of the most heartbreaking pictures coming in from Afghanistan after US troops pulled out from the country and the Taliban took over, a group of people tried to profit from the misery of Afghani people. What can be called an attempt to capitalise on the mass tragedy, a group of people have put up some T-shirts for sale which mock the death of at least two Afghan locals who fell from the US military planes.
Last week, all of us saw chilling footage of two people falling of the US plane as they tied themselves to the plane in a bid to escape the country.
Now, an Etsy shop called ‘conaneShop’ has put up some T-shirts for sale with a message that reads ‘Kabul Skydiving Club’.
The tees which have been designed for both men and women in various colours, had silhouettes of two people plummeting from a US military aircraft with “Est. 2021” written at the bottom.
The T-shirts started making news as soon as they surfaced on some popular websites.
“Featuring the scene of the plane flying in the sky and suddenly, there are two people falling from it, the Kabul Skydiving Club Shirt is officially becoming a phenomenon and goes viral on the Internet after that!” read one description.
Disgusted at the T-shirts, netizens came together to ask Etsy, the parent platform to pull down the T-shirts from its platform.
Since the outcry gathered momentum, the brand removed the T-shirts from their Etsy profile but the tees are still available on other platforms. Interestingly, the brand has since then launched 'Pray for Afghanistan' T-shirts.
Here's a look at what some Twitter users wrote against the T-shirts.
