Shocking pictures show van flipped onto its side in Stockport crash

A van flipped onto its side following a crash in Stockport.

Emergency services were called to the scene at the junction of Old Chapel Street and Bulkeley Street in Edgeley on Tuesday morning.

Pictures from the scene show the grey Ford van on its side next to a badly damaged Ford Fiesta.

Firefighters removed batteries and fuel containers from the vehicles.

No-one was injured in the smash.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “Shortly after 11.45am on Tuesday we received a report about a road traffic collision at the junction of Old Chapel Street and Bulkeley Street, Edgeley, Stockport.

"The incident involved two vehicles.

"One fire engine from Stockport fire station attended, and the crew used specialist equipment to make the area safe, removing batteries and containers of fuel from the vehicles.

"Occupants of the vehicles had freed themselves prior to our arrival.

"Firefighters were in attendance for around half an hour before handing over to colleagues from Greater Manchester Police."

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said no-one was injured in the crash and no arrests had been made.
