Shocking pictures show damage done to car during fire on A1

Pictures released by firefighters show the severe damage caused during a car fire on the A1.

The car fire broke out on the A1 just after the Balderton exit on Monday afternoon, September 28.

"On arrival, this was one vehicle, well alight," said Tuxford Fire Station on Facebook as they released details on the blaze.

Crews used breathing apparatus, hose reel jets and a Thermal Imaging Camera to deal with the incident which they said was then handed over to the police.

Pictures show the car seats completely burned as well as the entire bonnet being destroyed from the heat.

It was a busy day for crews at the station.

The station added in the post: "Crews this afternoon were mobilised for standby duties at Newark whilst they dealt with an incident in their area. No sooner had we left our station we were mobilised to a humanitarian assistance in Newark Market Place.

"Upon arrival EMAS were already in attendance along with Lincolnshire Air Ambulance and our services were no longer required.

"We then proceeded to carry on standby duties at Newark. Again, no sooner had we parked up at Newark we were re-mobilised to a vehicle fire on the A1 just after the Balderton exit.

"Crews are now back down home station and ready for when you need us."
