The family of a fifteen-year-old boy has released shocking photographs taken after he was attacked when he got off a bus in South Wales.
The boy, who hasn’t been named, was on his way home from school and suffered severe swelling and cuts to the face in the attack.
He was taken to hospital with a suspected broken jaw.
Police are investigating the incident, which occurred in North Cornelly in Bridgend, and have arrested a 17-year-old boy in connection with the attack, who was released on bail.
The photographs were published by a family friend who has appealed for witnesses and information.
Sarah Davies said: “Please, if anyone saw anything please tell the police.
“I'm sharing this with his mum's permission.”
Her post has been widely shared on Facebook with local residents voicing their anger at the attack.
One wrote: “Just hope the scumbag that did this awful thing gets everything that's coming to him.”
Another said: “Hoping this poor boy gets well soon and his injuries heal fully. Disgusting. “What is this place coming to?”
Police have asked witnesses of the attack to come forward.
A South Wales Police spokesman said: “Police in Bridgend are appealing for witnesses to an assault on a teenage boy in North Cornelly to come forward.
“The incident occurred as the 15 year-old victim got off a bus at Woodland Place, at approximately 4pm on Wednesday, February 8, 2017.
“He sustained serious facial injuries which required hospital treatment.
“A 17-year-old boy has been arrested and bailed in connection with the incident.”
