A motorist had a lucky escape after their car overturned in a horror crash on the M8.
Emergency services were called to the M8 Eastbound between junction 1 and 2 at Herminston Gate at around 7.20pm on January 2 following reports of a one car crash.
The white car overturned and landed at the side of the road on the grass verge.
The driver was taken to hospital.
A dramatic image of the vehicle being recovered was posted on Road Policing Scotland Twitter page.
It was captioned: "A lucky escape for this driver today. #EdinburghRP were called to assist with a 1 vehicle RTC on the M8 earlier.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police were called to reports of a one vehicle crash on M8 Eastbound between junction 1 and 2 at Hermiston Gate on Thursday, January 2 at around 7.20pm.
"One person was taken to hospital as a precaution. The vehicle was recovered."
