This is the horrible moment caught on a doorbell camera which shows a young thug using a blow torch to steal a resident's expensive bike which they relied on heavily for work in a Dublin estate.
The thief was spotted red-handed using the hot-flamed portable device on CCTV in the early morning snatch and go in Fairview.
The brazen boy was in no rush either, spending well over half an hour blowing away at the steal lock before eventually fleeing with the bicycle which was taken from Lomond Avenue.
He was heavily-covered in black clothing during the theft making him almost impossible to identify but local Gardai in Clontarf are hoping that someone might recognise the yob in their bid to recover the bike.
They said: "We’ve been sent some CCTV footage about a bike theft in the area.
"A blowtorch was used for approximately 30 minutes to remove the lock from the bicycle, before the heavily-covered individual pictured here returned momentarily and made off with the resident’s bike.
"This was an expensive bicycle which the resident was heavily reliant on for work.
"This incident took place between 3:10am and 3:40am on Sunday morning."
They added: "This and other CCTV/dashcam footage from the area has been passed on to the Gardaí, but if you have any information or saw anything suspicious in the Lomond Avenue area late Saturday night/early Sunday morning, please contact the Gardaí in Clontarf who are currently investigating on 016664800."
