Crowd of women filmed slapping and punching each other in violent Edinburgh to Fife train brawl

A group of women have been filmed slapping and punched each other on a ScotRail during a violent brawl.

Footage of the incident emerged on social media showing the females clearing breaking coronavirus social distancing rules.

The clip shows two girls setting upon another two as they try to make their way along the carriage on the service between Fife and Edinburgh last night, July 16.

As one girl attempts to protect herself by sitting with her head in her hands at a table, one of the others can be seen putting her full weight on her, slamming her head off the table and then repeatedly battering her.

As a pal in a denim jacket tries to come to the rescue of the distressed girl, she is pushed back and assaulted by a fourth girl.

None of the teens were wearing face masks in the footage, a breach of current Scottish Government legislation amid the coronavirus pandemic.

British Transport Police are looking into the incident.

A ScotRail spokesman said the incident had been reported to British Transport Police.

He added: “Anti-social behaviour has no place on Scotland’s Railway, and we will continue to work with the British Transport Police to clamp down on this unacceptable behaviour.”

British Transport Police has been contacted for comment.

Shared on a local Facebook page in Fife and taken by a passer-by, the video has gone viral, racking up more than 20,000 views in less than an hour of being posted.

Locals took to the site to express their disgust at the incident.

Sam Fisher said: "These people need locked up! Not one of them is wearing a mask!

Ellen Paton added: "Why would someone stand and video the whole thing and not get Police, they are always in train station! They are as bad as the fools who are fighting!"

Maureen Anderson chimed in: "Bloody hell. Why has everything got to be sorted out by fighting. Shame on you females."

Joyce Geddes said: "Hellish. Where's the transport police ?? Find out who they are and ban them."

Grace Fotheringham said: "Disgusting need to act there age not their shoe size."

But a couple of social media users had a tongue in cheek response to the drama.

David Steele said: "Good to see things getting back to normal."

Lee Herd added: "All COVID tests were done before the weigh ins."
