This is the moment a police officer told a group of Christian evangelists to stop preaching outside King’s Cross Station, saying “it’s all wrong.”
Mobile phone footage captured the exchange between a female British Transport Police officer and the group, who were preaching on the busy concourse between King’s Cross and St Pancras International — a site that sees more than 60 million travellers pass through each year.
In the clip, the officer can be heard telling the preachers their message is “so loud,” before adding: “These people just want to do their journey, they're not coming here to listen to you.”
One of the preachers responds: “If I was doing a happy, clappy song it would be ok?”
The officer then walks away, saying: “I just think it’s all wrong.”
The group was led by preacher Mon B of Mad 4 Jesus Ministries. She said the officer initially told them they were not allowed to stand in front of the barriers, before offering her personal opinion on the preaching.
Posting the video on Instagram, Mon B wrote: “Lord have mercy.. that’s not very nice. Long story short, security told us we can’t stand before the barriers but allowed to stand behind it and then police came to say opposite! But really and truly she was just triggered and her opinion was unnecessary! The other PC wanted prayer afterwards though. God is good! ANYWAYS WE CONTINUE IN JESUS NAME.”
The video drew widespread support online, with several commenters criticising the officer’s remarks. One wrote: “I’m sorry is this officer paid to give out her opinions? Or is she paid to protect the public.”
Another added: “I wish I’d been walking past when she said that! I’m not religious in the slightest but I’d let that lady know I want to hear what she has to say!! Similarly if I didn’t.. I’d carry on with my day and mind my business. No harm done.”
A third commenter said: “Since when did the police decide what I want to hear.”
Demonstrations and protests on the concourse at King’s Cross are frequently moved on by police. In April, around 40 pro-Palestine protesters were told by Metropolitan Police to disperse after they blocked traffic on nearby Euston Road. The group, Youth Demand, said officers issued a warning under section seven of the Public Order Act, and the protest ended after about 10 minutes.
