Shocking moment motorcyclist crashes into trailer in Swansea

Dramatic video footage captured the moment a motorcyclist was thrown into the air after crashing into a trailer.

The incident happened at around 4pm on Monday, June 7 at Dyfatty traffic lights in Swansea near New Cut Road .

In the dashcam footage, you can see a car waiting at the traffic lights when the motorcyclist drives past and into a trailer. The motorcyclist is thrown off the bike and then appears to be sitting up in the middle of the road.

Within seconds, a St John Ambulance urgent care assistant can be seen running towards the motorcyclist while a police van blocks the road.

Police said the motorcyclist sustained minor injuries and was taken to Morriston Hospital as a precaution.

A witness who saw the incident unfold said she thought the rider was "lucky to be alive".

She said: "About 20 minutes earlier there had a been crash on the exact same box junction at the top of new cut road near Dyfatty lights. The traffic had been at a standstill but I decided to stay and wait as it was so close to my house. Eventually the traffic started moving and just before this clip the police had stopped signalling traffic and told us to go back to following the lights so I was waiting for the red light ahead to go green. That’s when he drove out.

"He’s lucky to be alive and very lucky it was a trailer and not the back end of the four-by-four."

A spokeswoman from South Wales Police said: "The motorcyclist received minor injuries and was conveyed to Morriston Hospital by [St John Ambulance] ambulance as a precaution."
