Mr Pickstock was left with life-long physical and mental scars as a result of his ordeal. Today, footage of the incident was released amid Mr Pickstock's wishes to raise awareness about knife crime.

It starts by showing Mr Pickstock sitting in a booth while Jones crouches over him to talk in his ear.

Moments later, Jones brandishes a razorblade and viciously slashes Mr Pickstock across the throat, and then once again across the side of his face.

He then calmly walks away and heads to the dance floor leaving Mr Pickstock bleeding and in disbelief before he received "life-saving" first aid from the club's door staff.

Mr Pickstock was later taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd where he needed dozens of stitches.

Outside the club, Jones tried to dispose of the blade in a nearby recycling bin, and was detained by nightclub staff and then arrested.

Ahead of Jones' sentencing, Mr Pickstock, 24 told North Wales Live that the attack had been "one of the scariest moments" of his life.

He said: “On that Friday, I never would have guessed I'd be fighting for my life in a local club, not knowing what had actually happened to me has to be the scariest moment of my life. It’s not something that can be easily overcome."

He also said he wanted to raise awareness of knife crime in his local area “before someone else gets seriously hurt."

During sentencing, Judge Rhys Rowlands told Jones that carrying the weapon was simply to "big yourself up". He said it was a "cowardly and brutal attack" carried out with an "explosion of violence".
