This is the dramatic moment a bolt of lightning strikes a lamppost in north east Scotland as locals have complained of power cuts.
Peterhead, in Aberdeenshire, has been hit with thunder, lightning and snow overnight as residents have struggled with outages.
A four-second video, uploaded on the Peterhead Live facebook page, shows a fork of lightning striking a street light in the north-east town's Sandford Terrace.
In the clip, the bolt hits the light and appears to cause an explosion.
Locals claimed power and internet supplies have been affected while one said there was smoke coming from his light fittings.
The white stuff has fallen on much of the country this morning as forecasters have warned that Scots can expect a chilly start to their year.
The Met Office has issued three yellow weather warnings for snow, ice and wind beginning as early as Monday afternoon.
Snow has already hit Scotland, with the Met Office confirming flurries falling over parts of the Highlands and Aberdeenshire on Monday morning.
The first weather warning for ice starts from 3pm on Monday as cold air spreading from the south brings wintery showers and icy stretches.
Forecasters are expecting some snow showers with the white stuff accumulating overnight, likely to become hazardous in northern parts of the country.
The next weather warning brings a mix of snow and ice from 12am on Tuesday, according to the Met Office.
Peterhead local Doug Thomson said: "That'll be why our phone and WiFi is dead, we're just round the corner!"
Emma Ross said: "Our tv and WiFi have been fried as there was a flash and crack and burning smell within our bedroom when lightning struck."
Aberdeenshire Council has been contacted for comment.
