Shocking footage as car speeds through front of Skerries supermarket Primo in broad daylight

These were the shocking scenes as a car drove through the front of a Dublin supermarket this afternoon.

Staff and customers in Primo in Skerries were left stunned as the black BMW smashed through the front door of the busy store shortly after 1pm.

Fortunately, there were no injuries in the crash and a man in his 40s has been arrested in relation to the incident.

Eyewitness Dave Morris, who was delivering goods to the store, captured video and images of the destruction.

He told Dublin Live: "I deliver goods for Carpe Diem wholesale and was merchandising products when it happened.

"I was standing to the right of the gift bags. There was a very loud crashing noise and staff were running out of the way.

"The cars wheels were still spinning as he was stuck."

Onlookers were left in shock with one person saying: "Thank God nobody was hurt, if this had happened half an hour later there would have been kids in the store."

Another added: "Terrifying stuff, fair play to the emergency services for handling this so well."

In a statement, a Garda spokesman said: "Gardaí attended a single vehicle RTC in Skerries, Co Dublin at approximately 1:30pm today.

"No injuries were reported. A male in his 40s was arrested in relation to this. Investigations are ongoing."
