Shocking mass brawl caught on camera at Glasgow nightclub beer garden

A shocking mass brawl has been caught on camera at a popular Glasgow nightclub.

Punches and missiles were thrown by the punters in the beer garden of Sanctuary on Dumbarton Road at around 6.30pm last night.

Ignoring social distancing, an ice bucket was chucked during the rammy.

Others watched on in horror as their Saturday night bank holiday drinks were interrupted by the young men fighting.

A man is seen lifting a chair high above his head before bringing it down on them.

Bouncers struggle to keep the fighting punters apart in the shocking video, however the group was dispersed safely by staff.

The venue have said they are 'appalled' by the 'unacceptable' violence adding that anyone involved is now barred.

Police said they were not required, however officers are aware of the incident.

A statement from Sanctuary read: "The sanctuary staff and management are appalled by the behaviour of a small minority of customers who have shown no regard for the safety and well-being of those around them.

"We  will work with the police to ensure those responsible are dealt with appropriately and they will be barred from the venue. At anytime this behaviour unacceptable but never more so when faced with the current situation.

"Stewards quickly intervened. Police were called and groups dispersed safely and separately.

"Sanctuary is committed to providing a safe covid secure environment through digital temperature checks and 2m distancing in line with government guidance.

"Full track and trace data was collected. No one was injured and anyone involved is barred. The safety of our customers is paramount."

A Police Scotland spokeswoman: "A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report to make us aware of a disturbance at a nightclub on Dumbarton Road, Glasgow, around 7.40pm on Saturday, 29 August.

"The incident was reported to have happened around 7pm, it was believed there were no injuries, the incident wasn't ongoing and the group had left.

"Due to the information given by the reporter and other ongoing incidents, no police attendance was required."
