Hundreds of St Johnstone fans defied lockdown rules to gather outside McDiarmid Park after the club's historic 1-0 victory over Livingston at Hampden.
Rowdy crowds flocked to the grounds to set off flares and cheer on players returning with the League Cup for the first time in the teams history last night.
The gathering crowds defied lockdown 'stay at home rules' currently in place as Scotland remains in a Covid pandemic.
Riot cops were called to tackle crowds as red smoke filled the air.
One officer and a steward were both injured in the gathering.
The club had issued fans with a warning earlier in the day that gathering crowds would not be tolerated outside the stadium.
St Johnstone FC tweeted: "The Club asks supporters not to come to McDiarmid Park to celebrate today’s cup win due to COVID restrictions.
"No event is being held at present due to the lockdown."
Some Saints fans said they felt betrayed by many flouting the rules to attend the park.
One said: "While I’ve said congratulations this breaks my heart.
"Cup final or not we are still in lockdown. The police required at McDiarmid Park tonight will have cost a fortune...most likely billed back to the club you’re setting off flares for."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police were in attendance around 6.15pm on Sunday, 28 February, 2021 following a large crowd gathering outside the stadium of St. Johnstone Football Club, McDiarmid Park, Perth.
"Officers attended and the crowd was dispersed.
"One officer and one Steward sustained minor injuries and enquiries remain ongoing in the circumstances surrounding the incident."
A spokesperson for St. Johnstone Football Club said "This is a police matter."
