Shocking footage shows masked thugs breaking into Limerick restaurant

A restaurant owner claims she has been forced to only accept cards after a series of break-ins.

Sabrina Amodeo, who runs Tuscany Bistro Italian restaurant chain in Limerick, said: “We really feel it is time to go cashless. It’s safer for our employees and safer for our business.

“Hopefully those who are causing us such hassle will b****r off now.”

The restaurant, in the affluent Limerick suburb of Newtown, Castletroy, was burgled twice in two days on April 18 and 19.

No money was taken, however, Ms Amodeo said she has been left “stressed out” and footing a large bill for repairs to smashed doors, windows and locks.

She has also had to fork out for an additional security system.

Ms Amodeo is now in talks with a private security company to outsource the handling of cash takings as the restaurant transitions towards card only payments.

She said she plans to roll out the transactions at her two other premises at The Granary in Limerick and Ballina, Co Tipperary.
