Shocking footage shows Irish farmers performing 'grossly irresponsible' stunts on TikTok

Scary video footage shows a number of dangerous stunts carried out by Irish farmers in recent weeks for social media app TikTok.

The footage, showing misuse of farm machinery, has been blasted as 'grossly irresponsible' by the Irish Farmers' Association (IFA).

The IFA collected the series of videos that show various "reckless" incidents on farms and rural roads across Ireland and said they were "an accident waiting to happen".

One video shows a tractor dangerously overtaking another on a public road while another video showed a young farmer sitting on the engine hood of a tractor as it worked in a field wilting silage.

Another video involves a young man driving a quad bike up a steep ridge before it slides back down, almost overturning.

In a statement on Tuesday, IFA president Tim Cullinan said: "This practice is grossly irresponsible and is an accident waiting to happen.

"I am disgusted that people could be so casual and have no regard for the dangers involved in what they are doing.

"Too often, people are not willing to act responsibly and identify the risks.

"All farmers and contractors need to make it clear to their employees that engaging in these practices is a sackable offence."

There have been eight deaths on Irish farms so far this year.

A TikTok spokesperson told IrishMirror.ie: "The safety of users is our top priority, and we do not allow content that encourages or replicates dangerous challenges that might lead to injury.

"Our safety team is investigating, and we will take appropriate action in line with our Community Guidelines."
