Shocking footage shows forensic officers digging out bones from bin in west London

An investigation is under way after bones were discovered in a bin in west London.

Police were called to Green Park Way in Greenford, Ealing, on Wednesday afternoon following reports of bones being found.

Shocking video footage shows forensic officers pulling out bones from what appears to be a burned out bin near to Westway Cross Retail Park.

One of the officers can be seen kneeling down on the floor examining a large bone, while surrounded by smaller pieces neatly placed on white cloth.

Met Police said an investigation is under way but early tests indicate the bones belong to an animal. A police cordon remains in place.

Commenting on the video on social media, one person said the sight was “crazy”, while others questioned why a tent had not been put up.

“Why are they just doing it for everyone to see? Shouldn’t there be a tent up?” one person said.

“They should do it professionally. They normally have the white tent out if they’re gathering any sort of evidence,” another person said.

A spokesperson from Met Police said: “Police were called at 16:09hrs on Wednesday, 30 July to Green Park Way, Greenford to reports of bones being found.

“Officers attended and an investigation is underway.

“Tests are currently being taken to establish the origin of the bones, but they are believed to be animal at this early stage.

“A police cordon remains in place.”
