Footage shows the devastating flooding in Kenmare, Co Kerry after heavy rainfall overnight.
Fire crews were called to the popular tourist town around 5am to deal with the flooding that left the town square 'underwater'.
Kerry County Council said: "Because of flooding locally, there will be a delay in opening the Kenmare Civic Amenity Site this morning.
"We will have the facility open as soon as it is safe to do so."
And the heavy flooding has left the popular 'Ring of Kerry' route "impassible" in some parts.
AA Roadwatch said: "Further along on this route, the road is also impassable between Cahersiveen and Waterville at Inny Bridge."
Cork and Kerry were drenched by rain yesterday as Met Eireann issued a 22-hour Status Yellow weather alert.
The weather chiefs have warned that possibly more than 50mm could fall in these counties by Thursday morning.
The national forecaster revealed today a staggering 54.5mm of rain drenched Valentia in Kerry with 34mm recorded at Sherkin Island off the coast of Cork.
But it's still some way off the rainiest July day on record since 1942. On July 23, 2005, a staggering 112.9mm of rain was recorded in Macroom, Co Cork, according to Met Eireann.
