Shocking footage emerges after 'mass brawl' involving sports fans outside pub

Shocking footage of a 'mass brawl' which broke out outside a pub has emerged.

Police were called to The Old White Horse Pub in Church Street, Ainsworth on Saturday night after an altercation between two groups.

Footage obtained by the M.E.N. shows a foul mouthed row.

Some of those in the area were said to be wearing clothes affiliated to local football team Prestwich Heys.

The club has said it apologised to local residents and is investigating what happened.

The M.E.N. previously told how eyewitnesses reported that 'football and rugby fans' began to fight each other.

One man was left 'crawling' from the pub before being taken away in an ambulance, according to an onlooker.

The eyewitness said: "Roughly three or four lads got put in the back of the police vans. There were two or three riot vans, three police cars and two regular police vans.

"It was a large group of sporting fans, very drunk, brawling with each other. One lad crawled down the back of Church Street and lay on someone's driveway and got rushed away in an ambulance."

Police arrived and arrested a 29-year-old man on suspicion of public order offences.

GMP said he was handed a fixed penalty notice.

A 28-year-old man was also taken to hospital for treatment for a leg injury.

The force said it was aware of the footage passed to the M.E.N.

In a statement on the club's website, Prestwich Heys said: "The club are aware of an incident in Ainsworth on Saturday night and the images on social media showing personnel in Prestwich Heys tops.

"We would like to apologise to the residents of Ainsworth for the distress that witnessing this incident will have caused.

"The club are carrying out a thorough investigation and until this is concluded we will make no further comment."

Charles Baubney, landlord of the Old White Horse, told the M.E.N. what he saw.

He said: "We stop serving at 10pm and call last orders at 9.15pm. At the end of the night there were three or four tables of people that were all sat socially distancing in the beer garden at the back of the pub.

"They came in just before last orders and had one drink. They were getting a bit rowdy.

"Everyone left and started hanging around outside. Two groups have argued while outside waiting for taxis. There were two or three people that started fighting.

"It was actually us who got the police. We don't want any anti-social behaviour going on around the pub - we're a community pub."
