Shocking footage shows the incident in which a car rammed into a patrol vehicle following a garda chase.
In the video multiple garda cars can be seen in pursuit of the offending vehicle before it's forced to a stop.
The incident happened earlier today as officers saw a car turning away from a COVID-19 checkpoint in Blessington in Co Wicklow.
The chase ended with the car smashing into a garda patrol car as the driver tried to evade being caught in Clondalkin.
Three men in their 20s were arrested and taken to Tallaght Garda Station where they are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
A garda spokeswoman said: “While carrying out COVID-19 checkpoints in the Blessington area, Gardaí observed a car turning away from the checkpoint. Gardaí conducted a managed containment operation in pursuit of the offending car.
“Gardaí managed to contain the incident after a collision in the Clondalkin area. The car collided with a patrol car while trying to evade Gardaí. No injuries were reported.
“Three men, aged in their 20s, were arrested and taken to Tallaght Garda Station where they are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
“Investigations ongoing.”
