Shocking double family tragedy as mum's son and partner who died hours apart at same home named

A shocking double family tragedy has rocked a small community after two men died at the same home just hours apart.

A mum's partner and teen son both tragically died in the Carlow house on Saturday and Sunday morning respectively.

Sean Flynn was found at his home in the New Oak Estate at around 9:30am on Saturday morning with Gardai describing his death as a "tragic incident".

And less than 24 hours later, the partner of Sean's mother Ann, Philip, died suddenly at the house which he had attended to mourn the loss of the young teen.

Philip O’Brien, who was in his 40s, was found unresponsive according to Gardai and was treated at the scene before dying a short time later.

A spokesman for the Gardai said: "We were alerted to the incident at 3:30am on Sunday November 1.

"His body was taken to University Hospital Waterford mortuary and a post-mortem was carried out.

"His death is being treated as a sudden death."

New Oak Community Centre were the first of hundreds to pay tribute to the tragic duo.

They said on their Facebook page: "Our community has been hit with tragedy and sadness over the weekend.

"We ask you to pray for all concerned. We ask people don’t be scared to ask for help. It’s okay not to feel ok.

"God’s blessings on them and their families. RIP."
