Shocking dashcam footage shows Mini sent flying across M4 near Port Talbot in 100mph road rage crash

Shocking footage has shown how a car was sent flying across the M4 following a road rage incident near Port Talbot.

Two drivers who repeatedly undertook and tailgated one another on the motorway have been convicted of dangerous driving, South Wales Police said.

Dramatic dashcam footage showed Paul Carpenter, 44, from Boxhill in Surrey, and Wayne Sebury, 59, from Pontypridd, reach speeds up to 101mph along the eastbound carriageway in June last year.

The race led to Sebury's blue Mini flipping onto its roof, with the driver escaping from the vehicle uninjured.

The pair admitted dangerous driving at Cardiff Crown Court on Thursday after initially denying any wrongdoing.

Carpenter was sentenced to six months in prison and disqualified from driving for 18 months.

Sebury was handed an 18 month community order and disqualified for 12 months. He must also carry out 150 hours unpaid work.

Pc Kathryn Matthews of the South Wales Police Roads Policing Unit said: “This incident was a classic case of road rage where two motorists have driven dangerously, at high speeds, undertaking, tailgating and flashing their lights.

“It is sheer luck that nobody was killed or seriously injured and the dash cam footage of the incident sends out a clear message about the consequences of driving in such an irresponsible manner.”

Expert witness evidence showed that Sebury drove his blue Mini and Carpenter his Ford Mondeo at speeds of up to 101mph shortly prior to the collision.
