A Glasgow restaurant owner has slammed a selfish thug who caused hundreds of pounds worth of damage in an early morning rampage.
The Battlefield Rest in the city’s southside was left with shattered screens and a broken front door when a man wrecked the outdoor seating area.
Luckily the incident, which occurred around 2.20am on Sunday, was captured on CCTV.
Owner Marco Giannasi branded the vandalism a “disgrace” and posted the footage on social media.
The Facebook post read: “We woke up this morning to our security video of this F****r vandalising our Battlefield Rest! A Disgrace!!!
“More people will share better chance to get this Scum!”
Speaking to the Daily Record, Mr Giannasi said: “There’s broken screens and a broken front door.
"The most annoying thing is to see this happening. The act itself is sometimes more upsetting then the damage, to see someone damaging the place for no reason.”
Luckily staff were able to clear most of the damage to allow the restaurant to open later that day.
Mr Giannasi said: “It happened yesterday morning. A member of staff was driving past around 8.30am and saw the damage. I came down with another member of staff and we managed to patch things up to open at 1pm.”
He is currently waiting for the area to repaired and does not know exactly how much the damage will cost however he suspects it will be around £500 to £1000.
“It could have been worse but this is also the second time this has happened. It also happened last year and we caught it on camera.
“I don’t know whether the vandal is going off somewhere else and causing more damage. There are lots of residents nearby.
“We are lucky we had the camera.
“The reason we decided to post the video on Facebook is normally people see the damage but they don’t see the crime being carried out.
“It’s angered a lot of people.”
The incident has been reported to police who have been approached by the Daily Record for comment.
