Shocking CCTV footage shows moment knife-wielding thug stole almost €2,000 from Dublin shop

A Dublin shop owner has described the horrific moment that his establishment was held up at knifepoint last Thursday.

CCTV shows a man wearing a balaclava entering the Netto Shop in Applewood Village, Swords and threatening the two staff members behind the counter.

Footage shows the thief entering the door of the shop just shortly after 3pm.

The man points to the till with the knife and begins to bang the end of the weapon off the counter.

One of the shop assistants, who is seen trying to calm down the robber, opens up the till and hands over the cash.

Shop owner Piotr told Dublin Live that the man left the shop with almost €2,000.

He said: "The man took €1,800 in €50 and €20 notes. I am almost 99% sure that he was a local too because he knew where the till was straight away."

It was Piotr's fiancé, Celina who can be seen dealing with the attack but thankfully both she and a second shop assistant are "100% okay".
