Shocked worker spots deer on empty Buchanan Street during lockdown

A once busy Glasgow shopping street has now been taken over by nature following the lockdown.

A worker on Buchanan Street was left shocked after spotting a lone deer on the popular street on Friday morning.

In a video shared on social media, the adorable creature can be seen making it's way up the street past Buchanan Galleries before crossing the road.

It's not known how the deer made its way into the city centre but speculators have suggested that it could've come as far as the Necropolis.

Other residents from across Glasgow have been sharing their pictures of deer that have somehow found their way into residential streets.

Peter Aitken spotted one in Bearsden while another user shared a picture of one on Morningside Road.

As previously reported by Glasgow Live, otters have also been spotted in the city.

An adult female otter and well grown cub, were spotted in a tug of war over an eel in the water in the Dawsholm Park area of the city near to Maryhill.

For Bob Elliot, Director of the animal charity OneKind, it was a real treat to spot them while out on an early walk along the river- especially in an area so close to  the city.
