Shocked woman reveals 'Covid toe' that looks like 'Chernobyl burn' and feels like 'body exploding from the inside'

A woman suffering from so-called ‘Covid toe’ has revealed her red-raw hands and feet which she says feels like her “body is exploding from the inside”.

Nic Kimberley published shock images saying the inflammation looks similar to radiation burns from the Chernobyl nuclear disaster.

Ms Kimberley, who claims to have experienced 150 ‘Long Covid’ symptoms, has been terrified of the changes to her body.

The 53-year-old told The Mirror she noticed her feet were a ‘boiling red’ colour as she went for a shower.

She said: “It’s like radiation burns. I’ve never had radiation burns but I’ve seen photos and watched Chernobyl.

“I’m also feeling a horrific burning sensation, the pain is like a tourniquet. It feels like my body is exploding from the inside.”

Ms Kimberley, from the Cotswolds, says she feels a ‘pressure pain’ across her whole body, although the symptom is only visible in her hands and legs.

She said: “I sent my doctor photos this morning. He phoned me back and told me it was due to Covid. He says this is a progression of what he’s seen from other patients.

“I’m wondering if this symptom emerges at a later time.”

Her body has swollen up to the point that she can no longer fit in her jeans, she said. Thousands of people are suffering from long Covid and the number will only increase as more people become infected.

NHS Chief Executive Sir Simon Stevens predicted it could affect hundreds of thousands of people in the UK.
