Shocked commuters film schoolboys clinging onto moving train in dangerous stunt

Passengers on a London train were left 'alarmed and distressed' after witnessing two school boys risk their lives with a dangerous 'train surfing stunt'.

Both youngsters, who were wearing their school uniform at the time of the incident, appeared to be balancing between carriages on the outside of a moving DLR train in east London.

The video shows the pair clinging to the train as it moves between stations at around 3.23pm on Friday, June 14.

When the boys realise they are being filmed, they both make obscene hand gestures towards the camera.

The passenger, 27, who recorded the footage, claimed the boys clung onto the train for one stop, between South Quay and Heron Quays, heading towards the Canary Wharf area of London.

She said she considered pulling the passenger alarm to alert the driver, but was worried that stopping the train so suddenly could cause the boys to fall off.

She told the Mail Online : "I thought they were stupid. They were recording it on their phones for Snapchat.

"It's getting dangerous, kids doing risky things for likes or whatever [on] social media.

"I thought, if they fall and die, no one will be able to get home. It's a selfish act by immature young adults."

The commuter said that several other passengers were also shocked by the boys' actions.

She added: "It caused alarm and distress to many other passengers. We were going to press the alarm but thought if the train stopped suddenly, it might cause them to fall off also."

DLR trains are driverless, operating on a computerised system, but train attendants do travel on board and can operate the train manually if needed.
