'Shocked and devastated' Family of woman killed by tractor on Borders road issue statement

The family of a pensioner who was killed after being struck by a tractor on a Borders road have spoken of their shock and devastation.

Mary Jeffrey, 82, died on the U230N road in Terregles  village on Saturday, April 6 at around 1.40pm when she was hit by a John Deere vehicle.

In a statement issued through Police Scotland , the family said: "We are shocked and devastated and would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and support at this difficult time."

Cops are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or was driving in the area at the time to get in touch.

A Police Scotland statement read: "We would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this collision or may have driven along the road a short time before the collision and may have seen the tractor or persons walking on the roadway.

"Anyone who can assist should contact Police Scotland on the 101 number quoting incident 1991 of 06/04/2019."
