Shock Premier League team tipped to prevent Man Utd and Arsenal from Champions League spot

Brendan Rodgers can lead "dark horse" Leicester City into the Premier League's top four next season.

So says former Foxes boss Ian Holloway, who believes that Rodgers' men can break up the so-called 'Big Six'.

Rodgers arrived at the King Power Stadium in February, reading in Scottish champions Celtic for the Midlands club, replacing Claude Puel.

Now Rodgers has been tasked with looking to get the Premier League's most-unlikely winners back in mix for a spot in Europe's elite club competition.

And Holloway, who oversaw Leicester's only relegation to the third tier of English football in 2008, reckons that the Northern Irishman can push them above three teams in transition next term: namely, Manchester United , Arsenal and Chelsea.

“I’m going for a dark horse to be up in and around the top,” Holloway said on talkSPORT, when asked about his potential top four next term.

“I’d love to see one of my old clubs Leicester City up there because it didn’t go very well for me there. I’d love to see them burst into that top group with their manager.

“I’m going for managers. Liverpool , Tottenham , Man City have, for me, three of the best managers in the world. Then I’m looking at Brendan Rodgers and his experience.

“At Leicester City, what can he do? Wow, that’s what I’m thinking.

“If Chelsea go for Frank [Lampard], he’s still cutting his teeth, but I think that’s the right thing, I don’t think they can give it to anyone else. Man United have stuck with Ole.

“For next season, I’m always looking at the managers side of things, let’s see what inexperience does against experience.”

Rodgers is currently battling to keep England centre-half Harry Maguire at the club, with City believed to be closing on the defender.

Maguire is ready to move on after two years at Leicester and it is understood City is the 26-year-old's preferred destination, in particular the chance to play under Pep Guardiola.
