Shock poll reveals how deeply Brexit has divided Britain - and longing to reunite

Britain's fractured feeling is laid bare in a shocking new poll for the Daily Mirror.

A staggering 82% of people feel our country is divided, with 73% saying that has increased since the EU referendum, according to our exclusive Survation poll.

Almost one in ten people (8%) say they are arguing with family or friends about Brexit several times a week. One in four people say they feel angry with people who voted the opposite way to them on Brexit day, and over half (55%) say people have become less tolerant since the vote.

Meanwhile, an incredible 79% of people have lost faith in British politics.

When we asked people which issues are dividing us most, Brexit is the clear winner at 75%. This is followed by immigration at 41%, left-right politics at 36% and wealth at 33%.

But the good news is that people also want to come back together. 82% wish the UK was more united. And 60% would like to be able to chat to someone with an opposing view without anyone shouting .

That's why the Mirror is today launching Britain Talks , an initiative to get the country talking again - and listening to each other. We are encouraging people to sign up to meet someone with a differing point of view for a real conversation .
