Residents in Stapleford were shocked when a "massive swarm" of bees arrived in their street on Monday morning (June 14).
Independent Broxtowe Borough Councillor Richard MacRae was contacted by a local resident of Pinfold Lane after what were believed to be honeybees suddenly arrived in the area over the weekend.
Then, on the morning of June 14, they returned en-masse.
A beekeeper attended to remove the swarm and take them to a safe location.
Councillor MacRae said: "There were so many.
"I was alerted by a local resident who said that yesterday a massive swarm of bees was flying around the area.
"Then, this morning, they were on Pinfold Lane settling in a bush and on a wall."
Pictures and video shows a staggering number of bees flying around the street.
According to the British Beekeepers Association a honeybee colony swarm is a natural process.
The BBKA says: "It's the colony reproducing by the old queen leaving with some of the bees.
"They leave their hive and find somewhere to hang in a cluster until the scout bees decide on their new home."
Colonies have before been spotted across Nottinghamshire, including a swarm which resulted in a GP surgery car park being forced to close temporarily in Netherfield as cars were covered in honeybees.
