Shock footage shows cars being torched at Midlothian garage in the early hours of morning

Three cars were set on fire at a Midlothian garage in the early hours of this morning.

Emergency services rushed to DLG Auto Services, Sherwood Industrial Estate, Bonnyrigg at around 2am this morning after concerned locals reported loud bangs and billowing smoke.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed three cars were on fire at the garage in the early hours.

Video footage shows flames engulfing the forecourt of the vehicle repair centre, with onlookers claiming they saw a 4x4 car going up in smoke before firefighters arrived.

One man, who was watching on as firefighters tackled the blaze, can be heard saying there was cars on fire 'right, left and centre'

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We were alerted at 2.04am on Thursday, September 5 to reports of vehicles on fire in Bonnyrigg, Midlothian.

“Operations Control mobilised two fire engines to the town’s Sherwood Industrial Estate, where firefighters were met by a fire impacting three cars.

“Crews extinguished the fire and made the area safe before leaving the scene.

“There were no casualties.”

Police Scotland have been contacted for comment.
