Viewers may recall Ali and Maria are family members by marriage. Ali is Michelle Connor's biological son and Maria was married to her brother Liam.
Maria, played by Samia Longchambon, thought she was happy with Liam but he was having an affair with Carla Connor, who was married to Liam and Michelle's brother Paul.
Carla's fiance and Underworld co-owner Tony Gordon discovered the affair and arranged for Liam to be run over on his stag night in 2018.
Maria has previously been called the 'Black Widow' of Coronation Street.
