An investigation is underway after a woman collapsed and died in a street in Moss Side.
The 32-year-old was found unconscious on Moss Lane East shortly after midnight on today (Thursday).
Police and paramedics were called but she died at the scene.
A cordon remained in place on Thursday night and an investigation into the cause of death is underway.
Well-wishers left flowers and tributes at the scene.
Police believe she had suffered a medical episode.
A post mortem examination is expected to take place to establish a cause of death.
One resident said the woman had suffered health problems since birth. She was said to have worked at a nearby leisure centre.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "Officers were called to Moss Lane East, Moss Side, Manchester, at 12.30am on 27 May 2021 to reports a woman had been found unconscious.
"North West Ambulance Service also attended but sadly, a 32-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Enquiries are ongoing and a scene remains in place."
