'Shock' as racist stickers found on lampposts close to school

A 'shocked' man found stickers promoting white supremacy on a lamppost close to a primary school.

Sam Mcglone spotted the stickers on Greetby Hill, close to Ormskirk Church of England School, this week.

One of the stickers have a website address on them with a white supremacist caption.

Another has a "Creativity Movement" symbol in the centre with another white supremacist phrase around it.

25-year-old, Sam, from Ormskirk, told the ECHO : "I was shocked to see something like this so close to where I live - I have never seen anything like it before in my life.

"I think whoever is putting them should be ashamed of themselves.

"Any child of any colour could see those stickers after leaving school and nobody should have to see racist messaging on the lampposts of Ormskirk."

He added: "I don’t think it’s any reflection of the community specifically, but just on some of the small minded people out there."

Stephen Drewry, from Maghull, also shared pictures of the stickers on the Maghull Community Facebook page to warn others to be aware of the 'bigoted ideologies.'

He told the ECHO: "I feel that in recent years, racist and other bigoted ideologies have resurfaced; we need to be vigilant in our communities and take a stand against this."

Another user mentioned that he had saw the stickers around Melling, Sefton too, and said: "I ripped at least three off."

A third said: "I'm appalled: this is the last thing we want or need. Something nasty crawling out from under our paving stones. Stamp on it."

Chief Inspector Chris Abbott for West Lancashire Police said: "We are aware of some stickers placed on lamp posts, however at this time we understand this is isolated and not specific to any identified groups in West Lancashire.

"We continue to engage with the community and provide reassurance to the people of West Lancashire.

"Officers will be visible whilst on patrol in the area, we ask that if anyone has any concerns they please stop and speak with an officer or call 101 quoting log 115/ of 4th August."
