Onlookers have told of their shock after a man died after falling into the water at Salford Quays.
There was a large-scale emergency services response following the incident at about 11am on Thursday.
Witnesses reported seeing several ambulances, fire engines and police cars at the scene on Onatrio Quay, close to the watersports centre.
Police said a man in his 60s was taken to hospital after 'entering the water'.

He was pronounced dead a short time later.
Following the incident police were seen taking photos of a mobility scooter, which was later loaded into the back of a police van.
One onlooker, a woman who works nearby, said: "I looked outside and saw about five fire engines, half a dozen ambulances, and loads of coppers before an ambulance headed towards the hospital with a police escort so I knew it must have been bad.
"I'm really sorry to hear that the man involved died."
Another said: "I saw lots of emergency services outside, the police were taking pictures of a mobility scooter too.
"It's so tragic to hear what happened."
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "Police were called just before 11am this morning to reports that a man had entered the water at Ontario Quay, Salford Quays.
"Emergency services attended, and a man believed to be in his 60s was taken to hospital, and despite the best efforts of paramedics, pronounced dead a short time later.
"Officers are currently at the scene and are working to establish the circumstances around what has happened.
"Police aren't looking for anyone else in connection with this incident, and enquiries are ongoing."
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "Just before 11am on November 18, two fire engines from Salford fire station, two technical response units from Tameside and Wigan and a water incident unit from Salford were called to reports of a person in the water at Salford Quays.
"Crews assisted colleagues from GMP and NWAS at the scene and were in attendance for approximately an hour and a half."
