Shock as entire family including two children and dog found dead inside home

A murder investigation has been launched after the bodies of two adults and two children were found at a home.

Sussex Police found the bodies and a dead dog after responding to a report of concern for the occupants of the house at Woodmancote on Sunday evening.

It is believed the were all from the same family.

A spokesman for Sussex police confirmed they had launched a murder inquiry after the grim discovery.

Chief Superintendent Jerry Westerman said: "This is believed to be an isolated incident contained to one property and in these early stages of the investigation we are not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident.

"Local residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the area as our enquiries continue. Specialist officers have been deployed to support the investigation and we're urging anyone with any information to get in touch.

"Our thoughts are with the family at this incredibly difficult and challenging time."

Police are treating this as a murder investigation while evidence is gathered.

Anyone with information about the incident can report it online or call 101, quoting Operation Cotton.

Woodmancote is a village close to Chichester in West Sussex.

It is in the parish of Westbourne, which had 2,309 citizens at the last count.
