Shoaib Malik opens up about his bond with son Izhaan after divorce from Sania Mirza: 'I visit him twice a month in Dubai'

Indian tennis icon Sania Mirza and former Pakistan cricket captain Shoaib Malik officially ended their marriage in January 2024, after 14 years together. While the two continue to co-parent their son, Izhaan Mirza Malik, Sania has primary custody, and Shoaib often faces scrutiny for not being around his son more frequently. Addressing these concerns, Shoaib has now spoken about his deep bond with Izhaan.

During a recent appearance on a Pakistani Ramzan show, Shoaib Malik shared insights into his parenting approach, emphasizing that his relationship with Izhaan is more of a friendship than just a father-son dynamic.

“Uske saath jo relationship hai woh ek dosti wala hai. He calls me bro, and sometimes I also call him bro. I make sure to visit him twice a month in Dubai, and while I’m there, I personally drop him to school and pick him up,” Shoaib revealed.

The cricketer further highlighted how he stays involved in Izhaan’s life, particularly through sports, which plays a major role in their bonding time.

“Mera uske saath bahaut acha bond hai. Everyday we connect on a video call and discuss everything,” he added.

Shoaib Malik married Pakistani actress Sana Javed on 20 January 2024, making headlines and receiving mixed reactions from fans. Reports say Shoaib and Sania ended their marriage through ‘khula,’ a right in Islam that allows a woman to divorce her husband.

After their divorce, Sania is focused on her career and raising their son, Izhaan. He is often seen with her at tennis events and other activities. Despite the changes in her personal life, Sania continues to balance her professional and motherly duties, staying dedicated to both. Fans continue to support her as she moves forward in life.

Despite their separation, both Sania and Shoaib have expressed their commitment to co-parenting their son, ensuring that he receives love and attention from both parents.
