Shkodran Mustafi teases Arsenal transfer exit with latest social media act

Failure to qualify for the Champions League has left Arsenal with a tighter transfer budget, meaning they might be forced to sell in order to buy leaving some players with uncertain futures.

Unai Emery has been handed a transfer budget in the region of £45million as he looks to strengthen his squad this summer.

However, the Spaniard could raise some additional funds by offloading players who he believes would benefit from a move away from North London.

One man available for transfer is experienced centre-half, Shkodran Mustafi , however the club reportedly have yet to receive any enquiries about the 27-year-old German.

However, supporters picked up on Mustafi removing his Arsenal profile picture and "Player for Arsenal" from the bio of his Instagram .

This comes as the German and his teammates reported back to the club's training ground for pre-season.

This latest twist has added fuel to the fire surrounding his future at the club. In May, he said there were no plans for him to leave the Emirates citing his contract which runs until 2021.

He told the German publication, Kicker : "It is odd that there are always transfer speculations. I am an Arsenal player and have a contract until 2021."

However, it is believed that Emery is keen to sell the ex-Valencia defender, having run out of patience with him towards the end of last season.

Another player whose future might lie elsewhere is fellow defender Calum Chambers .

It's understood the Gunners would consider offers for the 24-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Fulham and was back in training at London Colney on Saturday.

He is contracted to Arsenal until 2022, while they feel he is one of only a handful of players whose sale would help to bolster the transfer budget available to Emery.

Change is surely on the horizon for the club as they look to form a squad capable of competing for silverware but ultimately, driving the club back into the Champions League.
